A workplace can be more than a place to work—it can also be a place where people are encouraged to take care of their health.
As part of Project Sunkalp, a cancer screening camp was conducted at Pearl Global Company, Madurantakam, bringing preventive healthcare and early detection services closer to employees.
A total of 70 beneficiaries participated in the screening, including 15 men and 55 women.
The camp provided:
• 54 iBreast Examinations
• 69 Oral Examinations
• 39 Pap Smear Tests
During the screening, 4 findings requiring further medical evaluation were identified, including 2 gynaecological findings and 2 breast screening findings. These are screening findings and do not by themselves confirm a cancer diagnosis. Timely medical consultation and appropriate follow-up are important next steps.
The participation of 55 women highlights the importance of making breast and cervical cancer screening accessible in the workplace. Workplace screening camps can also help employees prioritise preventive healthcare despite busy schedules and other everyday commitments.
Cancer may not always show noticeable warning signs in its early stages. Regular screening can help identify suspicious changes earlier and encourage timely medical attention and follow-up.
For many people, barriers such as time, cost, distance, or limited awareness can make regular screening difficult. Project Sunkalp works to reduce these barriers by bringing screening services directly to communities and workplaces.
Through Project Sunkalp, Kalpavriksham Trust continues to work with workplaces, PHCs, local communities, healthcare professionals, and CSR partners to expand access to cancer screening across Madurantakam.
